Frequently Asked Questions

Committing to orthodontic treatment may feel like an intimidating decision at times, which is why Dr. Georgy and the rest of our team at Glenpool Braces want to help families feel as confident as possible. For added convenience, we’ve addressed several of the most popular frequently asked questions we regularly receive below. Are you not seeing the information you need? No problem – please contact us directly here in Glenpool, OK to discuss it.

Do you see children?

Absolutely! In fact, Dr. Georgy strongly encourages parents to get an early start on orthodontic treatment for their son or daughter, as the jawbone and developing teeth are much more malleable. Our friendly, down-to-earth team does a great job at helping younger patients feel right at home from the very first visit, and they’ll certainly love spending time in our in-office movie theatre too.

At what age should I bring my son or daughter in for their first orthodontic consultation?

We follow the American Association of Orthodontics’ recommendation, which is that children should undergo this important consultation around the age of seven at the latest. This will allow Dr. Georgy to pinpoint any concerning developments at the earliest stages possible and possibly provide interventive treatment that saves your family extensive cost and time down the road. Simply put, we want to help them enjoy their best smile as soon as possible!

I hate the idea of wearing metal braces. Is there another way to straighten my smile?

Yes. In addition to traditional orthodontics, our Glenpool, OK office also features Invisalign® Clear Aligners and Invisalign® Teen Clear Aligners, which both use clear, customized aligners instead of the typical brackets and wires. These services can straighten teeth while still prioritizing aesthetics, which is ideal for many older patients.

How do I brush and floss my teeth with braces on?

Here are some helpful tips:

  • Make sure you’re brushing twice a day and for at least two minutes during each brushing session.
  • It’s important to remember that decay-causing food particles can become trapped between the brackets and the wires. Patients are encouraged to take a little extra time with their oral hygiene routine to make sure these areas are cleaned successfully.
  • Interdental toothbrushes, water picks, and other special tools can help make brushing and flossing easier with braces. Ask Dr. Georgy for a recommendation!
  • Use a floss threader to expertly maneuver the floss around and under the archwire.

How long will I have to wear my braces?

Unfortunately, the simplest answer is “it depends on the patient.” Dr. Georgy can provide a much more confident estimate after evaluating you or your child’s smile during a complimentary consultation. On average, patients can expect to wear traditional braces from one to three years at a time.

Do you take dental insurance?

Yes! Glenpool Braces is in-network with most major PPO insurance providers. To learn more, please visit our new patients page or contact us directly.
